There are two areas to focus on when planning your exercises for basketball: building strength and building stamina. To build strength, you will want to develop a program of weight training and resistance training (resistance exercises include sit-ups, push-ups, crunches and lunges). You can build stamina by getting out on the court and pushing yourself (a great way to train, as running up and down the court will get you in great shape!), and by running 200 and 400 meter repeats in your down time. Simply alternate running 200 meters and jogging 200 meters for 8 or 12 repeats, until you can do the same with a 400 meter distance.
