'09 Playoffs ROUND 1: #1 Lakers vs. #8 Jazz

Many are predicting this series to be a short one. Utah has been horrible on the road, so there is four automatic losses. In Utuah, it's a different story. I could definitely see the Jazz stealing one, maybe even two in Salt Lake. I hope this can go to at least 5, maybe even 6 if Utah can steal two games in Utah.

Prediction: Lakers in 5

Game 1: Lakers 113, Jazz 100

The Lakers jumped on the Jazz early, scoring 62 points in the first half alone. Kobe would go on to score 24, Pau would add 20. The Jazz did outscore the Lakers in the second half, so that's something they can take away from the game. The bad news: Phil Jackson teams are 41-0 after winning game 1...ouch.

Game 2: Lakers 119, Jazz 109

The Jazz made this one interesting, but they could never get over "the hump". Deron Williams put in a career 35 points, but the Lakers were just too much. Kobe put in 26, Pau put in 22. This would be the 11th straight loss for the Jazz at the Staples Center. This doesn't bode well for the Jazz, who were hoping to steal one in L.A. The Jazz need game 3 in Salt Lake or this series is a wrap.

Game 3: Jazz 88, Lakers 86.

This was the game of the playoffs thus far. What a barn burner it was. The Jazz landed the first punch, stretching the lead to as many as 10 in the first half, on their way to a four point halftime lead. The Lakers would start the 3rd quarter on a 15-2 run, opening up a 13 pt lead in the third. Carlos Boozer had a monster game, scoring 23 points with 22 rebounds. The Jazz would go on a run at the end of the 3rd to cut in to the Lakers lead, and with the help of Harpring and the rest of the Jazz bench, the Jazz would finally take the lead midway through the fourth. Kobe Bryant would be broke the entire game, including an atrocious 1 for 10 in the first half. He would end up scoring 18, on 5-24 shooting. Brewer and crew did a great job of making his life difficult all game. The end of the game was back and forth. First it was a Williams-Boozer pick-n-roll basket to put them up, then a Kobe pass to Pau for a dunk, then Boozer with a nasty left handed dunk on Pau, before a blown in-bounds pass led to a Kobe lay-up to tie the game back up. Deron Williams would come back, and despite a poor shooting night, stepped up big and hit the game winning basket, a 15 foot, fade away with 2.3 seconds. Down two, Kobe tried some more heroics, but when Scott Norwood(wide right) on a deep three pointer for the win. All-in-all, a great game, many fans have been wating for this, finally it happened.
